MEDICAL CHOICES

Don’t expect your doctor to give up his scientific method of treating you. It is unrealistic for your doctor to embrace and approach treatments that lacks systematic and sustained verifiable data.

Yet one can expect one’s doctor to keep an open mind about new developments in diagnoses and treatments, even if it is not in harmony with his own training and experience.

But don’t expect him to proceed with any treatment that lack adequate clinical evidence that it is safe and effective. You would not want your doctor to experiment with your health.

It is reasonable to expect your doctor to recognize that medical science does not have all the answers to problems of health and healing.
But also don’t expect him to give up the scientific method in treating you. The scientific method is a way of thinking systematically, assembling evidence, and appraising it.

Science is constantly changing. Don’t expect your doctor to depart from the scientific method no matter how hard you try to persuade him.
